My hands at work during a needle-felting demonstration.
I have been making things as long as I can remember.
I like making things that are beautiful, including things that are useful too. I like how soft fluffy wool can be coaxed into a solid form, and shaped into anything I can imagine. I love the smile I see on the faces of people when they look at what I have made.
Nature is my first and greatest inspiration, from tiny butterflies and flowers to whole landscapes. A woodland ramble or rock-pooling on the beach will spark ideas for new creations. Strange realms of folklore and fantasy also inspire me to explore new possibilities.
I have a view of my rose garden from my spare-room workshop, and this led to my choice of business name. Needle-felting takes up very little space; I can work on a folding table with a box of coloured wool rovings beside me. On warm summer days I often move outside to create felt flowers while surrounded by real ones.
